The Malisa Experience

High adventure climbing Kilimanjaro -

and a taste of real Africa

‘Charles is a fantastic guide. He instills trust. And believe me this is incredibly important on Kilimanjaro – especially when you've brought your three children up into this hostile environment!

Not only is Charles a phenomenally-experienced guide, but he understands this African mountain as only an African guide can. He has a terrific team - mostly drawn from the families of his community - and inspires loyalty amongst them.

If it feels important to have the smartest tents in camp, Charles might not be for you. But if your priorities are safety and experience, excellent support and great company, and the knowledge that the money you pay is going directly to the community local to Kilimanjaro, then I cannot recommend Charles Malisa highly enough. It wasn’t easy, but we all five made it to the summit. Thank you Charles’. - Katherine M W, Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, England.

‘In Tanzania in 2010 and very impressed by Charles. He is affable, nothing is too much trouble and he instils great confidence in those fortunate enough to be under his care. A first-rate guide and mentor. Can’t recommend him too highly. You will not regret choosing Charles as your leader.” His Honour Terence Maher, Oxford, England.

“Charles and his family gave us a very warm welcome to Tanzania and his home. The beds were clean and comfortable and the food was local cuisine and varied, with some of it from his own farm. The ascent of Kilimanjaro was supported by hand-picked, experienced, local staff who were attentive, knowledgeable of the flora and fauna and adapted the programme to our needs. All of which contributed to the success of our group.” Len Foreman, Ayr, Scotland.

“The two weeks spent in Tanzania will remain with me for a long time for all the right reasons. Charles was a caring guide on Kilimanjaro and, with the help of his wife and family, a good host at his house.” – Rick Atkins, Haddenham, Bucks, England.

“Reaching the top of Kilimanjaro was an unforgettable experience, thanks to Charles and his team. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Equally memorable was the stay at his house. The hospitality offered by his family and, indeed, the whole village was truly outstanding.” – John Wright, Cumnor, Oxon, England.

“Charles is a brilliant guide – patient and tremendously supportive. With his support, the climb up Kilimanjaro is within the reach of everyone who is reasonably fit.” – Harvey Lloyd, Oxford, England.

We went on safari and climbed Kilimanjaro with Charles.  It was an experience of a lifetime for our family and we are very grateful to Charles for making it such a successful trip and for managing our dietary needs so well (4 of us are coeliac). Furthermore, we felt in very safe hands as Charles did medical checks on us every day, morning and evening. We would highly recommend him.
